Who here is hoping for a snow day tomorrow ? Well we've got good news the ice is open and I've been informed the ice is a solid 9 out of 10 in terms of smoothness, great skating ice so get out there!!!!!

ATTENTION THE ICE IS CLOSED as of tomorrow for a few days. All this snow has made some rough ice and we have a thaw coming up. We hope the thaw will actually benefit us and melt the top which should freeze smooth again. Enjoy the warmer temps though, goodness we earned it didn't we.

Mom's you could have them practise like this at home (it's one way to get them cleaning).....or....... you could send them down to the rink to practise..... your choice!

We've been watching the reports closely and we don't think the snow will start till after our party so at the moment we are planning to go ahead with our event. We will have cookies and hot chocolate, skates for $5 rentals for the season, music, lights and don't forget your snowman cards. If we get a decent turn in of cards we will draw the prize. If the snow puts off alot of people we will try to arrange a drop box so it's fair to everyone. Hope to see you there.

The Stamford Village Ice Rink is really feeling the community support and love towards our recent incident. In a few hours we have had a flood of messages, comments, likes and donations. We would like everyone to know we truly appreciate it and it justifies what we do. We really hope to see you all on Saturday for our opening of the Ice party. Our memeber Chip Myers managed to repair the ice with some propane and a flame, thank you Chip. Anyone wishing to donate towards the program we have an ice skate in the village Library you can place donations or you can send them/cheques to PO box 44, Stamford, NY 12167. Cheques need to be made to The Stamford Village Improvement Association with a note to say it is for the Ice Rink. Last mention is an empty rink is a temptation for Vandals so lace those skates and let's see you on the ice. :-)

So we guess some individual decided the ice was too slippery and need to sand the ice?!?! Please do not sand the ice. We will do our best to repair the ice but this is going to be an on going issue now as the ice freezes and thaws. Again please don't put anything on the surface but skates.

Ok, we drilled a test hole and we have at least 4inches of ice. The surface is still rough but if you want to give it a go have at it. We will be working on the surface occasionally so please watch if the sign changes. We hope to have a opening of the Ice party once we get the surface how we would like so keep your eyes peaked on the page for details.

Still no ice dispite the temps yet. We are having to add more water. We will post on here when it's open and the sign will show open. Please stay off the ice till we give the green light. Not long we hope.

Its up, pray for a freeze now. Tuesday next week is going to be warm so we are hoping it will be frozen properly sometime late next week.
