Clinical Changes for G2015 CPR There are relatively few changes to the CPR guidelines this year. Some parameters were refined (adult compressions will be 100-120 per minute as opposed to "over 100", instead of 2" adult compressions they will be 2-2.4" deep, etc). There was some refinement of some ALS procedures (vasopressin was removed from ACLS' cardiac arrest recommendations). There was also some reordering of steps (breathing and circulation are checked together in the... BLS for Healthcare Providers algorhythm). Overall, most programs look pretty similar to the G2010 release we are currently teaching. Some things we know: - Instructors will be required to complete an online inservice from the AHA to continue their instructorshipa and teach the new programs - Materials will be released one program at a time, generally with the most popular ones first (BLS, ACLS, Heartsaver). - AEDs and AED Trainers will not need reprogramming to continue to be used, unless manufacturers make slight tweaks to compression monitoring features - While we do not know what G2015 materials will cost yet, historically the AHA has raised the rates for materials such as DVD's, books, and cards when guidelines change. You should anticipate some cost increase in your training efforts staring in 2016. Overall, it sounds like it will be a soft transition. We will keep you posted on developments as we become aware of them.
