FALL LEAF COLLECTION The City of Gloversville will begin collecting loose leaves and bagged leaves on Monday, November 2, 2020 and will continue through Friday, November 20, 2020. Leaves need to be raked out to the terrace or just before the edge of the curb for collection; or they can also be placed in paper yard/leaf bags (no plastic bags). DO NOT rake leaves into the street, as they may block or back-up storm drains during wet weather storm events.... DO NOT contaminate the leaves with trash or other yard waste such as branches, sticks or plastic bags. Leaf piles full of branches and/or sticks will not be collected. Tree limbs and sticks will not be collected during leaf collection. Those items can be taken to the Beaver Street brush drop-off located at the dead end of Beaver Street, which is available to Gloversville residents for organic waste only. No trash or construction debris may be dumped at that location and the site is under 24-hour police camera surveillance. LEAF COLLECTION SCHEDULE: To ensure collection, have your leaves out on the terrace by MONDAY of the scheduled collection week for your ward Once we complete a street, we will not come back to it again. November 2 through November 6: Wards 2 and 4 November 9 through November 13: Wards 3 and 5 November 16 through November 20: Wards 1 and 6 Residents should always place leaves out as soon as possible to ensure collection. In order to maximize efficiencies and enhance collection efforts, we ask that residents not park cars on the street during your collection week or move cars off the street while crews are present collecting leaves from 7am to 3pm. Parked cars hamper leaf collection efficiency and some leaf material may get stuck under and around parked cars. If large leaf piles are blocked by parked cars, we may not be able to collect all the leaves to prevent damage to parked vehicles. If you have any questions, please call (518) 773-4556 between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.

We have received numerous calls about trick or treating this year and would like to give an update as of now. Trick or treating has never been a city organized function. The City of Gloversville will not ban trick or treating this year and will defer to the State's guidelines and mandates. As it has been in the past, the hours will be set from 6pm-8pm. If you would like to participate by handing out candy, please leave your porch light on for trick or treaters. If you choose ...not to participate please ensure your porch light is off. We also hope to bring some alternative options to those who may be uncomfortable going door to door but that will be determined as the State begins to release guidance regarding trick or treating. As the City receives information from the Governor's Office we will share it here. We ask that those who choose to participate please exercise caution by maintaining social distancing and wearing appropriate PPE. See more
