Other than the classroom, what are some great places to use a remote microphone? . @listenwithlindsay speaks on this: "One of my favorite tools - remote microphone technology!! Aka FM aka mini mic aka Roger - there are many names for it, but basically the parent wears a microphone and it connects wirelessly to the child's hearings aids/BAHA/CI and they can hear you SO MUCH BETTER. Inputting language for your child is hard work- don't you want to make sure as many of those wor...ds as possible?? Remote microphones overcome distance, noise and reverberation and yes I would even wear it while playing with a child in a "quiet" house. Imagine if you were to put your cell phone in a seat of a stroller on speaker and tried to have a conversation vs with listening to airpods or a Bluetooth headset. With head phones the sound is so much more clear and takes less brain power to understand and process. " See more

"dB is for decibels From a sound that is so faint @ 10 dB, such as leaves blowing, to when a sound can be so strong, it’s deadly @ 200 dB, such as a powerful bomb explosion.... Max exposure time for unprotected ears per day (OSHA): 90 dB: Max 8 hrs 95 dB: Max 4 hrs 100 dB: Max 2 hrs 110 dB: Max 30 min 120 dB: Max 7.5 min"
We often talk about hair cells when discussing sensorineural hearing loss with our patients. We are not talking about the hair in your ears! There are cells that look like hair in your cochlea. You can see in this picture how loud sounds can be detrimental to those little cells!

A hearing instrument specialist is a state-licensed hearing care professional who has been trained to evaluate different types of hearing loss and to dispense hearing aids. At CCHB, you will most likely see one of our wonderful and talented HIS if you are interested in hearing aids, have a hearing aid problem, or need a hearing aid cleaning. Both of our HIS providers have over 10+ years of experience in this industry and are very knowledgeable. Call to schedule an appointment
Trick or treating might look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean we still can’t have fun! Our tips for trick-or-treating safely with hearing loss include making sure the hearing aids have fresh batteries and bring a flash light with you! If you think you need yours or your child’s hearing aids serviced before the next appointment give us a call to get scheduled.

An ABR stands for Auditory Brainstem Response. It is a test that we primarily perform on children and infants who are not able to complete a hearing test by raising their hand when they hear a beep. You can see here, how easy and relaxing an ABR can be!
