The WNY Technology Skills Initiative is a free skill building virtual course that is open to WNYers seeking to learn and/or enhance skills in technology and digital skills, such as data analysis, digital marketing, UX design and software engineering. Western New York has seen increasing demand to fill technology roles, and needs to develop a diverse workforce who can build their skills to succeed in our digital world. The jobs already exist, they just need you to be ready to fill them.

The Chautauqua County Chamber of Commerce has announced a virtual ‘Doors Open Jamestown’ series showcasing local businesses and several non-profit attractions and featuring an online scavenger hunt with prizes, with episodes to air on February 27th.

The thoughtfulness and generosity of our community is a beautiful thing to witness and inspires hope for a new year. Jamestown Professional Firefighters Local 137 battled a blaze for several hours on New Year’s Eve and Robert Reedy and his Elite Kreation$ crew delivered coffee to our firefighters on scene and to those who had just returned to the station.

The City of Jamestown Department of Development, with funding provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), through the allocation of a federal Community Development Block Grant, has released two COVID-19 Recovery Grant programs to assist with the financial impact of the nationwide Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The Utility Assistance Grant is for utility customers whose income has been reduced as a result of the pandemic. The Small Business Reli...ef Grant is available to for-profit businesses that have suffered financial losses as a result of the pandemic. The City of Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will distribute Utility Assistance applications to all eligible customers who are not receiving full utility payment assistance from other sources and who were current on their BPU bill as of March 2020, and are now in receipt of a termination notice. The Small Business Relief Grant will provide flexible funding assistance to for-profit businesses in the City of Jamestown that employ up to fifty (50) employees. Businesses will be able to apply for grants of up to $20,000 for the purposes of reopening and recovering from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses will be required to provide proof of economic injury due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Lead Poisoning Prevention Week 2020 is October 25-31. Lead Poisoning’s damage may be permanent but it is also preventable. Happening now through 1:30 pm at The Chautauqua Center, Chautauqua County Health Department is offering free lead testing.

TONIGHT Chautauqua Safety Village is hosting their annual Halloween Fun Fair from 4-8 PM. They will have safe, covid-style trick-or-treating through their decorated village. Come out and let's have some fun.
