MEATLESS LUNCH SPECIALS DURING LENT @ THE COLDEN MARKET 941-3333 GREAT CHANGES TO THE MARKET COMING SOON! Hello friends! Please accept our apologies. This might be the latest weekend post yet, but we’re rushing around getting ready for the 1st Friday in Lent. We’ve added a whole LENTEN LUNCH MENU including meatless soups, grilled cheese, mini fish fries, fish sandwiches, veggie pizzas and so much more. Of course for dinner we’re still offering our value-packed beer-battered h...addock ($13.99), Yuengling battered shrimp ($14.99) or broiled haddock dinners ($14.99), which all include choice of potato, macaroni salad, coleslaw, rye bread/butter, lemon and tartar/cocktail sauce. We also offer numerous meatless soups, salads, subs and pizza to keep your dining experiences interesting all the way until Easter! We’re not slacking in the desert area either. Jenn whipped up some crazy good chocolate cupcakes and covered them with salted caramel frosting. Meanwhile, Joe was baking 2 more classic New York style cheesecakes. This past weekend we sold out of every last slice last in a matter of hours so to avoid personal injury, he promised to make more this weekend! We have plain for the cheesecake purist, cherry or caramel topped. Of course with 5 different kinds of home baked cookies, 4 different giant muffins, 2 kinds of coffee cake, Ghirardelli chocolate chunk brownies, chocolate chip cannolis, French toast-bacon loaf and other goodies it might be hard to decide. MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE COLDEN MARKET! Free coffee & hot chocolate Wed/Thurs (23-24th) Hello dear friends. It’s hard for many of us to believe it’s Christmas week. Things seem so different than years past but we can’t let the pandemic steal our Christmas away from us. My mother has had Christmas Eve at her house every year since 1977. Every aunt, uncle, cousin, mother, son, daughter, grandparent, brother, sister and close neighbor was at our house. 35-40 people every year f...or 44 years. We ate too much, drank too much, opened gifts, laughed, cried and shared an amazing, loving bond that now even my kids look forward to. So if there was ever a family who was truly disappointed about this Christmas, it’s us. Yet, when I stopped to see my mother today she was smiling. Apparently just about every one of those relatives and her dearest friends have been calling, texting, FaceTiming, or even writing cards! Well, it turns out Christmas, the REAL Christmas, is not a date in December, but something that lives in our hearts, and it can’t be stolen from us by a pandemic or anything else. Covid has actually helped us to understand that Christmas isn’t about the best looking tree or the most expensive gift, it’s about relationships and friendships and how well we look out for each other and take care of each other. Turns out this Christmas may mean more to us than any Christmas prior! And it certainly makes us appreciate what we have and how much we miss it when it’s gone. Julie and I are so happy to be a part of this amazing community. We love the stories. Birthdays, anniversaries, graduations and watching the kids grow. We love that we can save you a trip to Springville or find you that last ingredient for your recipe. Most of all we love your kindness and your friendship (and that so many like to hang here for a coffee). This weekend special is interesting because you could enjoy it as a meal or split it up as an appetizer. Friday through Sunday you can order our stuffed Hungarian peppers with a side of garlic bread. We took a Hungarian pepper(it’s a banana pepper with a little more heat), and stuffed it with sausage, garlic, 4 different cheeses, seasoned bread cr...umbs and a few more spices then baked it until it was golden brown and bubbly. You get 3 large peppers & a side of garlic bread for $10.99. Or, if your appetite is bigger, this Saturday our delicious prime rib dinner is back. A very generous slice of our slow roasted Chairmans Reserve prime rib cooked your way with choice of potato, chefs vegetable, side salad, roll and butter all for $21.99. Or or you could make it really special by adding 3 sautéed shrimp for just $4.99. Either way it’s a fancy downtown dinner at a small town price so dig right in! For dessert in addition to our usual cookies, cannolis and cinnamon danish, Jenn has whipped up an outrageous combination of fresh baked apples, cranberries, butter, vanilla and brown sugar that we call Cran-Apple Crisp! A member of the community recently posted in Colden neighbors about a meeting tomorrow at 6 PM to discuss a Dollar General right on route 240 across from the post office. This was our comment: Julie and I were very dismayed to find out the other day that discussions with Dollar General have been going on for quite a while without anyone’s knowledge! We have put a lot of blood, sweat and tears in addition to tens of thousands of dollars in repairs to the building to try and... give the community a safe, comfortable gathering place. It’s been a wonderful labor of love molding the store into what was needed even though we struggle every month to make ends meet. But certainly a Dollar General would be the end of the Colden Market. We won’t even try to compete with a big corporate store nor did we ever think something like that would be desired in this community. Anyway it’s the community’s decision and we respect everyone’s right to choose what they prefer. We’d really like to think the Market has a permanent home here, but we simply cannot see a scenario where the market can survive if Dollar General opens down the street. We are definitely hurt by this but hoping for the best! See more

SALISBURY STEAK DINNER @ THE COLDEN MARKET Friday-Sunday (Nov 20-22) Hello southtowns friends. We’re already very busy with Thanksgiving around the corner so this post will be short and sweet. For this weekend’s special we have homemade Salisbury steak dinners! They come with a half pound of delicious Salisbury steak & mashed potatoes, covered in onion/mushroom gravy, green beans and a roll and butter, all for $12.99... **Limited Edition** Turkey Pot Pies available in both 1 & 2 pound sizes, but only until Nov. 30th For dessert, we’ve got homemade peanut butter fudge pie! We have some delicious treats for you! First a chocolate chip cupcake. An oversized vanilla cupcake with chocolate chips and topped with our signature vanilla buttercream and adorned with chocolate chips and a cookie. And because it’s not really the holidays without eggnog, we have an eggnog cupcake as well. An oversized eggnog cupcake with our signature buttercream laced with real Kentucky Bourbon and eggnog then lightly dusted with nutmeg.
