I am also a exempt member of the Westbury Fire Department here on Long Island, and finally retired from the NYPD - New York City Police Department. I witnessed the horror of 9-11-2001 and lost many colleagues and friends that day. I worked weeks and weeks down there it was the worst experience I have ever witnessed. I retired a few years later, and in 2008 I got cancer from working down there breathing the toxic dust. It’s a very common thing to get cancer from being down there, 1000’s of us came down with it and claimed 100’s of lives.
