September 11 I will never forget feeling scared and vulnerable I will never forget feeling the deep sad loss of so many lives I will never forget the smell of the smoke that reached across the water and delivered a deep feeling of doom into my gut I will never forget feeling the boosted sense of unity and pride I will never forget seeing the courageous actions of so many men and women I will never forget seeing people of all backgrounds working together in community I will never forget seeing what hate can destroy I will never forget seeing what love can heal Steve Maraboli
Troops 1076 and 1105 were honored by receiving a new American Flag for the Columbia County September 11th Memorial. The flag was flown over our State Capital to pay homage. Girl Scouts of Northeastern New York wish to express a special thank you to Sheriff Dave Bartlett and Senator Daphne Jordan for making this happen. The new flag will be proudly displayed beginning in the spring after the troops have had an opportunity to do some spring cleaning.
(Good Morning, this is Dawna again) WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOB! I saw all the pictures that Richard Lindmark shared last night to Columbia Page. I was so blessed and moved to see a whole new generation of Scouts participating and learning about 9/11.... Honored to see many of Police and FFs in full dress to pay respects. Loved the pix of the tiles, brought all of it rushing back for me. TO THE TOWN OF KINDERHOOK, Thank you from the bottom of a heart that was broken. When I saw the memorial is such disrepair a couple of years ago, I didn’t know what to do. With the knowledge that each time representing a life lost on 9/11, I felt incredible guilt with each tile that fell and shattered. To know that you are all being good stewards of our memorial touches me deeply. Thank you to craftsman that so gingerly worked so hard to save tiles but also maintain the integrity of the Towers. I left a piece of my heart as well as the WTC steel when I moved to TN. Thank you for honoring both last night Much love to all you. May God Bless and keep you safe..... DAWNA
(This is Dawna LoPiccolo Mraz. On the Eve of September 11th, my thoughts are with all of you. My heart feels always feels a little heavy, not being the with all of you for annual vigil. I always feel a little lost. I know you all remember. I know that you don't need me to remind you. But please also know that I am so forever grateful to all of you who participated in our vigils over the years. You have helped my healing more than you know. I wish you all continued peace and I am forever....ALWAYS REMEMBERING.
