Delker and Terry Funeral Home 05.12.2020

Charles H. Swanson, 74, of West Winfield, passed away unexpectedly Sunday November 22, 2020 in West Winfield. Charles was born on November 8, 1946 in Brewton, AL the son of Leonard and the late Mary (Fenwich) Swanson. Charles was a lifetime resident of the area residing in Fort Plain, Canajoharie, Cooperstown and West Winfield. In 1966, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served over three years as a Crew Chief with The Field Maintenance Squadron at K.I. Sawyer ...Air Force Base in Michigan. He was honorably discharged in May of 1969, and shortly after, he began his career at Remington Arms in Ilion, NY. After 44 1/2 of service to Remington Arms, Charles retired in 2013. He and Lillian traveled extensively in the US, and abroad. They visited many states on their cross country drive, and also loved visiting Panama, Costa Rica, Cancun Mexico, and Nova Scotia. Charles was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post 579 in Cooperstown, and the Cooperstown VFW. Charles is survived by, his wife Lillian Stickles-Swanson of West Winfield, his son Charles H (Nicole) Swanson of Kingston, MA, daughters Wendy (Dennis) Elliott of Milford and Kasondra (Weston) Chambers of Smyrna, TN, step son Gregory (Paula) Stickles Edinburg, VA, grandchildren Eleanor, Raymond, and Oliver Swanson of Kingston, MA, Blake and Emily Elliott of Milford, Parker and Zachary Chambers of Smyrna TN, his father Leonard Swanson of WI, his former wife Viola Swanson of Kingston, MA, a brother Thomas (Joyce) Swanson of Sprout Brook, a sister Melodie Swanson of Gloversville, and several nieces and nephews. In addition he is survived by his close friends Frank Druse of Springfield, and Dana Cochran of Ithaca. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW 60 Main Street Cooperstown, NY 13326 in memory of Charles. Arrangements are with Delker and Terry Funeral Home 30 South Street Edmeston, NY. Irma D. (Boglioli) Cortese, 75, of Oneonta, formerly of Dallas TX, passed away Sunday November 8, 2020 in Oneonta. Irma was born on January 25, 1945 in Bronx, NY the daughter of the late Constantino and Ray (Hausman) Boglioli. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Betty Lou Daley and brother in law Bill Daley. She is survived by a son Francis (Deborah) Cortese of Dallas, TX, her surrogate daughter Argryo (Paul) Michelson of Tuscan AZ, and granddaughter R...ainy, whom she loved dearly, brothers Louis (Ruth) Boglioli of FL, their children Julie and Jay, Conrad (Carol) Boglioli of Maryland, NY, and their children Kara, Ted and Michael, nephews Shawn Daley, Gerard Boglioli, and Willy Daley, several grand nieces and grand nephews, a sister in law Theresa (Cookie) Boglioli of FL, special friends in NY and Dallas, especially Carol Wickstrom and Linn Welborn. Irma was raised in Pearl River, NY. She married Frank Cortese, and they welcomed their son Francis Paul, before moving to Dallas TX in the mid 70’s. In Dallas, she was an insurance agent with John Hancock, before opening her own agency, Irma Cortese Farmer’s Insurance agency. Irma was loved by many for her kindness, friendship, joy, and laughter. She loved nature, and was often on hiking or canoeing trips. She was the former President of the Dallas Down River Club, and was known for hiking the Grand Canyon.She will be remembered for Doing it my way. A lover of all animals, Irma’s family is encouraging donations to your local SPCA, or Humane Society in her memory. Her family would like to acknowledge, and thank the Unit 3 Staff of Fox Hospital Nursing Home for the excellent care provided for Irma during her time there. A celebration of Irma’s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday November 14, 2020 at Delker and Terry Funeral Home 30 South Street Edmeston, NY with Rev. John Buddle officiating.
