Assistant Winemaker/ Laboratory Technician Merritt Estate This is a full-time position that occasionally would require some long days and the occasional weekends during harvest time. This position would be fully encompassing the winemaking process from grape to bottle. Responsibilities to include, but not be limited to grape processing, fermentation, filtering, tank monitoring, cold stabilization, wine finishing, blending for bottling as well as all appropriate laboratory ana...lysis for the winemaking process. We are looking for a candidate that is motivated and a self starter and has a good handle on the different the chemistries and different lab testing that needs to be done with the wines on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. Experience is preferred however we are looking for someone willing to learn and not be set in their ways. We are a medium sized winery and are very aggressive in the market with new and creative products and packaging and always looking to stay ahead of the curve as our industry evolves. The Gold Grape Pathology Lab at Cornell AgriTech in Geneva, NY is looking to hire a summer temporary technician to work with us from May-October 2021 in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country. Responsibilities will include applied vineyard management and participating in field data collection for ongoing research projects, including working with an autonomous vineyard imaging robot, using hand-held sensors for pre-symptomatic disease detection, and disease scouting. We are looking for a candidate with vineyard experience who is comfortable handling delicate field equipment and works well in a collaborative team environment. Due to the boutique size of our operation, this will be a very hands-on position with opportunities to assist in almost all aspects of the business. You will be directly assisting the owner/head winemaker in all facets needed. Duties include, but are not limited to: General vineyard and cellar management...
