News from Franklin County Public Health FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Notice to Individuals 65 and Older January 20, 2021 Seniors 65+ are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine in New York State. Please be aware vaccine is limited in New York State. Vaccination is expected to take many weeks, well into the spring or early summer. Make it part of your daily routine to check the sites to see if appointments are available. ... At this time, there are 6 locations at which those 65 and older may obtain the COVID-19 vaccine: Kinney Drugs (4 locations in Franklin County) New York State Vaccination site at Plattsburgh Airport New York State Vaccination site at SUNY Potsdam Maxcy Hall Gymnasium To register for vaccination at Kinney Drugs, please go to their website at https://www.kinneydrugs.com and follow the instructions. Vaccination is by appointment only. If no appointments are available, you may register to receive an email or text alert when appointments become available. To register for either Plattsburgh Airport or SUNY Potsdam, please go to https://covid19vaccine.health.ny.gov/ . Initial feedback from attendees is that the NYS sites are timely and well-run. Plattsburgh is a drive-thru and Potsdam is a walk-thru site. Both sites are administering the Pfizer vaccine. Their plan to administer 1000 doses per day has been reduced to 500 doses per day, due to vaccine availability. In three weeks (when individuals are due for their second dose), they will administer 1000 doses per day-500 first doses and 500 second doses. Vaccination is by appointment only. If you do not have a computer or internet access to register or if you are having difficulty registering online and need help, please ask friends or family for assistance. News from Franklin County Public Health FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Notice to Public of Potential COVID-19 Exposure January 20, 2021... Residents who rode the North Country Express, Plattsburgh to Potsdam bus route on January 11th, 12th, 13th, or 14th may have been exposed to COVID-19. This bus makes stops in Franklin County in the villages of Chateaugay, Malone, and Brushton. Please self-monitor for COVID symptoms. If symptoms develop, please self-isolate immediately and call your health care provider to arrange for COVID testing. Symptoms of COVID can include any of the following: fever, cough, trouble breathing, muscle aches, tiredness, headache, sore throat, runny nose, loss of smell or taste, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.
