Some ways to stay connected with loved ones are to video chat, send letters, and play internet games. The next dimension we’re going to discuss is the intellectual dimension. This dimension involves having an open mind when you come across new ideas and things and understanding that your knowledge could and should always be growing. It encourages you to partake in mentally stimulating activities and be creative. Intellectual wellness is important because it helps you become more mindful and well rounded. Check out this article to learn how to improve this dimension! https://www.bellinfitness.com/eight-steps-increase-intelle/
Today, we’re going to discuss the spiritual dimension! The spiritual dimension allows you to develop a set of values that help you seek purpose and meaning in your life and can be influenced by religious faith, values, ethics, and morals. Being spiritual doesn’t mean you have to go to church, it can be anything from relaxation to religion. The most important part is appreciating your life experiences and finding harmony within yourself. The spelling isn’t the only thing that makes FYZICAL different! As you know, along with our orthopedic rehabilitation, we offer balance therapy! Now, we’re going to take a look at how we evaluate and decide the course of treatment. Our balance program is based on the FYZICAL Balance Paradigm. We have state of the art technology which allows us to accurately test and evaluate you. One of the tests we will administer is called the FYZICAL CTSIB (Clinical Test for Sensory Intera...ction on Balance). This test is performed on our BodiTrak mat which quantifies the amount of sway during the six different conditions of the test. This allows us to determine if you are relying more on one of the three systems that comprise your balance (vision, proprioception or vestibular) to maintain your balance. This is called a sensory mismatch and can cause dizziness and imbalance. Once the sensory mismatch is identified we can use this information to plan your specific treatment and determine where you will begin on our FYZICAL Balance Paradigm. Stay tuned for our next post in our balance series all about how we treat YOU! See more

Now, we’ll discuss the environmental dimension. This dimension inspires us to live a lifestyle that is respectful to our planet and surroundings. This realm encourages us to live in harmony with the Earth by taking actions to protect it. The core principle of this dimension is respect - respect for nature and all that lives within it. We’re not saying you need to join an organization or start a petition, but you can make little changes in your everyday life that will positively impact the environment! Without the Earth, we don’t exist, so let’s take care of our home. Some tips to improve your environmental wellness are: recycle, conserve energy and water, become an advocate for environmental issues, spend time outdoors, and feel at one with nature!

This month, we’re going to talk about the 8 dimensions of wellness and how you can make positive changes to impact your overall health! Whenever we think of our health and wellness, we automatically think about our body and the physical aspect of health, but it is so much more! Our wellness encompasses 8 dimensions: spiritual, intellectual, financial, emotional, occupational, social, environmental and physical. It’s important to spend time thinking about and improving each... of these because each dimension is interconnected and neglect to one or many, will adversely affect the rest and ultimately, your health, well-being, and quality of life. So, let’s break each dimension down and talk about how we can improve upon them! First, let’s talk about the financial dimension. This involves the process of learning how to successfully manage your financial expenses and living within your means. Along with being able to plan for the future, it’s important to be aware that everyone has different financial needs and situations are unique. Financial stress and anxiety can cause a huge burden in your life and affect you emotionally, socially, intellectually, physically, and so on. Here’s an article about how you can stay on track and improve your financial wellness! https://www.smartaboutmoney.org//Habits-that-Build-Financi

Let’s talk about dizziness! Did you know 15% of the population suffers from dizziness which can be caused by an array of things? The number one cause of dizziness is medication, but when that isn’t the case, it could be due to dysfunction of the vestibular system. Some common symptoms of dizziness include vertigo, imbalance, lightheadedness, and motion sickness. All of these can be scary to experience, but with our help we can eliminate dizziness and get you back to "Loving Your Life"! Stay tuned for our next post in the series to see different ways we can test and treat you!
This month we’re going to do a series on everything you need to know about your balance, how we can help improve it and your overall quality of life! Your ability to maintain your balance is the result of three systems working together: Vision, Proprioception and the Vestibular System. The visual system sends signals to the brain about your surroundings and if there are objects in your path. Your proprioceptive system is made up of sensory receptors throughout your body and... provides you with the sense of movement and body position. I bet you’re wondering how does your vestibular system fit into this? The vestibular system is part of your inner ear. It controls six degrees of motion and sends over one million signals to the brain a second. Its main responsibility is to coordinate movement through balance and body position. All three of these systems work together to coordinate movement and balance. When one isn’t working properly or one is overcompensating, this affects your balance and causes a variety of symptoms like dizziness! Stay tuned for our next post in the series all about dizziness and symptoms we can treat!
