We wound up our final Writing Through Uncertain Times workshop last night, and what a group it was! Six amazing participants entered into each other’s stories with openness, compassion, and acceptance (exactly what our hurt world so desperately needs!). Magic happened! My heart is full.

Hi Writers, It’s been way too long! SoI’m launching our next writing workshop Writing Through Uncertain Times: A Path to Self Discovery... Sometimes I have a terrible feeling that I am dying not from the virus, but from being untouchable. Amanda Higgs, AIDS patient, SUN Magazine SUNBEAMS. In the chaos and disorder of today’s world, many of us are experiencing loneliness, isolation and loss as never before. Others feel trapped and smothered in their limited social space and roles. Others, disconnection from themselves and what really matters. Maybe you are caught in a swarm of all of these feelings and are beginning to doubt there is any way out. This workshop is my attempt to create a sacred circle where we can tap into our creative energies, take risks to be known and to know others, be held and accepted in our awkwardness, unknowingness and struggles, to move out of the doldrums and fear into hope and healing for our broken and beautiful hearts. To create such a space, I am limiting the group to 6 members. So when is it? Three consecutive Tuesdays beginning September 8, 6:30-8:30pm. Where? (Sad face) Zoom Why? I dreamed myself at the foot of a rickety, tall ladder leading up to a plank dangling over raging waters. Is there any better reason than that? Cost? $100 per person. To register call 315-436-6221, or email: [email protected]. As always, thank you for considering taking part! Best, Kathleen

Dear Everyone, These are indeed unprecedented times, though our tried and true methods for handling stress and anxiety still apply. We want to remind you to take care of yourself physically by staying home, getting rest, eating well, getting exercise, getting outside at least once a day, contacting people you love and people who love you. Take moments to notice your breath and connect to your five senses. Reach out to others who might appreciate a call from you. Consider... balancing all of the devastation and sadness that is among us with all that is still beautiful in the world, your gratitudes, the small kindnesses that are happening every day right here in Syracuse. Remember, what you put under the microscope, is what you see. Engage in whatever creative endeavors you usually don’t have time for. We encourage you to notice thoughts that start with what if and keep them in perspective. Don’t let projections linger too long, trust if something happens you fear, you will figure out what to do and do it. You are not alone. While we are not providing any in person sessions at this time, we are happy to schedule a Telehealth or phone session with you. You can reach us at 315-436-5428. Be safe, be well and know that even in isolation, we are never disconnected. See more
