As part of their ongoing social studies investigation into accessibility, lower schoolers learned about adaptive playground equipment, then used their knowledge to design and build their own accessible parks out of upcycled materials.

During choice time, kindergarten students experimented with making objects out of playdoh. After creating different items, they took turns trying to guess what each of their classmates had made.
In the weeks leading up to November 3, members of our upper school community came together to educate themselves about the 2020 Election. To study various issues that are important to voters, students and faculty led and participated in workshops on topics such as Ethics and Power, Equity in the 2020 Elections, Sustainability and Environmental Policy at Stake in Upcoming Elections, and Social Media's Role in Political Polarization.
At our first Community Inclusivity Dialogue of the school year, upper school student leaders joined Head of School Dr. Tara Christie Kinsey and Director of Equity and Community Life Loris Adams for a conversation about Hewitt's commitment to being an inclusive and anti-racist community.

First graders documented their mathematical thinking using a variety of strategies including counting unifix cubes and drawing pictures.
Today we recommend Ready to Lead: Leadership Supports and Barriers for Black and Latinx Girls, a report by Hewitt Visiting Research Scholar Charlotte Jacobs and Girls Leadership, an organization co-founded by Hewitt Visiting Research Scholar Rachel Simmons. After collaborative discussions in their science classes, lower school students identified the characteristics and traits of scientists. These Hewitt students will put their ideas into action as they work together to make new discoveries and ask thought-provoking questions. #HewittPride
After reading A Thousand Beginnings and Endings, a collection of modern retellings of Asian myths and legends, eighth grade English students wrote paragraphs analyzing the strength and depth of each character’s emotions.
