Taking photos of some of our horse family today. These are brothers, some full and some half by the same mom, our blind mare Belle Starr. L-R is yearling Titus - 2 year old G.W. - 6 year old Thunder- 10 year old Hondo and first born , 16 year old Patriot. Even though Titus and Patriot look alot alike, its Hondo and Titus that are full brothers! G.W. And Thunder and full brothers also.

You are what you eat! This applies to animals too! We sell grass fed beef, however, more importantly i would be more interested in giving you something to chew on. Does Grass Fed Beef Matter? How estranged most of the public are from the food we put into our mouths and onto our plates? Cattle are ruminants, meaning they eat grass, naturally foraging for their nutrients among different types of grasses, shrubs, leaves and yes those medicinal herbs. This is what they were in...tended to eat and sustain their health, resulting in a healthier product in beef or milk. If cattle are not grass fed, they are grain fed. Grain fed cattle eat mostly genetically modified corn, grain and soy. As we have been led to believe meat is meat all having the same nutritional value- this could not be further from the truth! We are what we eat and the diet of the animal we are eating really does matter! -Reasons to eat grass fed beef- 1) Better fats-Higher in Omega-3 fatty acids and CLA. Lower in Omega-6 fatty acids and saturated fats. OMEGA-3 fatty acids are essential for a multitude of functions in the body, including low inflammation levels, brain and nerve health, mood and healthy skin. CLA is a naturally occurring fat that has been found to assist in weight loss by increasing metabolism and use fat as fuel! CLA can actively reduce the risk of cancer. Leaner Meat means lower calories, up to 92 fewer calories per cut. Content- Grass Fed Beef contains %400more vitamin A and vitamin E. Vitamin A is vital for vision, cell growth, immune system, fetal development. Vitamin E is an antioxidant that protects the Lipids in our body from being damaged it has a higher levels of antioxidant- helping to prevent disease, cancer and rapid aging. I know this is a long post but I need to add that we do not use sprays on our fields or artificial fertilizer, our beef is usually butchered around 16-17 months old, from May until Into October we flail chop every day to keep their bellies full and growth rate strong. Flail chopping cuts the grasses long and does not fine chop so they are taking in long grass as they would naturally. See more

One of the jobs on the farm that has to be done is picking stone from the pasture, I had plenty of help today. I had to keep moving as they would swarm me if i stayed in one spot to long. I love my Morgans!

Many people ask if there are bears out in the woods. We rarely get a glimpse of them, however in riding lead i always check out the soft mud for what animals are passing through. Red circle around the bear track and blue is horse (. )
