Education Support Specialist Research Foundation for SUNY The Lake Champlain Research Institute at SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking to fill a part-time position as a watershed educator with the Lake Champlain Sea Grant program. This position is responsible for developing and implementing off-campus watershed-focused education programs in New York Schools and supporting ongoing educational efforts of UVM Extension Watershed Alliance. These efforts will enhance the educational of...ferings of Watershed Alliance helping to reach a broader geographic region and enhance workforce development programming of Lake Champlain Sea Grant, UVM Extension program and SUNY Plattsburgh. The duties of this position include: 1) Train partner schools and teachers 2) Assist in preparing for and leading watershed and lake education programs for K-12 students at local streams, in classrooms, and on Lake Champlain 3) Develop, deliver and compile programmatic evaluations and program statistics and 4) Recruit new schools, youth, and teachers, and adults to participate in Watershed Alliance and other watershed and lake education programs. Applicants must have a bachelors degree (Master’s preferred) in education, natural resources or related field and 3 years experience (preferred) in K-12 science education and outreach Salary $30,000 to 33,000. This position is a nine month (75%) appointment with the possibility of full-time (12 month) salary depending on other funding sources.
