There is a new scam call (showing a TX or another states area code) that is going around the county. They are leaving messages or telling people directly to contact the Sheriff's Office because there is an emergency of some kind. This is a SCAM and there is no need to contact this office. And as always DO NOT give out any personal information.

There is a scam going around in regards to unemployment benefits/insurance that people have been receiving by mail. If you received any correspondence that appears to be from NYS Department of Labor and you did not apply for these benefits there are two ways you can report it: Call 1-888-598-2077 or visit the labor fraud website page and fill out the form to report the fraud. https://www.labor.ny.gov/agencyinfo/report-fraud.shtm... **There is no need to contact the Sheriff's Office in regards to this, as this is the same information that will be provided to you, thank you**

We hope everyone is staying safe and healthy! Hopefully this pandemic will be over soon and things can get back to normal as possible! We are still here, ready to serve and assist the community as always! This week (April 12th- April 18th) is National Telecommunications Week. Emergency (911) dispatchers are the first people you talk to when you call with a crisis. Even though dispatchers can't see what’s happening, they are the eyes and ears of emergency respondersour ...guiding angels who ensure that the right responders get to an emergency as fast as possible, and who keep responders safe as they help people in crisis. Every year during the second week of April, the telecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are honored. This week-long event is to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public. It is a week that should be set aside so everyone can be made aware of their hard work and dedication.
