Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 28.04.2021

Opening Day of trout season is tomorrow. We're freshly stocked with nitecrawlers, red wigglers, wax worms, and mealworms. Flounder season opens too, so we have bloodworms, clam chum, and fresh mussels. For those targeting blackfish we have all the jigs and green crabs to get things going. Looks like some warmer water temps for this time of year so it's going to be an early start. Let's bend some rods, winter is over!

Hey guys, here's a little something to get the season started...

Valentina helping Dad get ready for the upcoming fishing season. We'll be hand tying and packaging about 90% of the rigs we sell. Made in America by American hands.

Opening day of Blackfish season was great then we did it again on Tuesday. Easy boat limits both days

Although it's been great fluke fishing, Drew has been pounding the Kismet Reef and coming up with some very nice mixed bags. He nailed this huge trigger fish among a bunch of big porgies, blowfish and sea bass.

Loads of keeper fluke in the Great South Bay. Only a few days left until it's all over.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 25.10.2020

Been a while since I posted anything due to an overwhelming need to get everyone set up to fish. The fluke bite was insane yesterday in the GSB. GULP 6" Grubs were key to boating 14 keepers to 5lbs. Most of our customers are catching their fluke limits very easily with alot of healthy fish. I'm advising that you get fluking while it's red hot.

My nephew Steven and I went out for a few hours on Saturday. We ended with 4 in the box and a dozen shorts released. He's proudly holding his first keeper fluke with many more to follow. The best part was watching him feel the bite, drop it back a few seconds, then lock it up and stick 'em.

Here's a couple nice ones from the Great South Bay.

Looks like we're starting to find out where all the fluke have been hiding...Here's a 5.50lb. and 3.50lb. Fluke that were right where I sent this crew yesterday. This kid has also been doing his homework to choose the best rig and baits.

We got them guys!! All new color 6"GULP Grubs are in! We've also added 5" GULP Grubs due to popular demand. This past week was a little slow although a few anglers have reported catches despite the heavy winds and colder temperatures. Gary Nankervis and Matt Ervolino drifted inside the State Boat Channel on Wednesday. They boated several keepers including a 6.06 pounder during the outgoing tide. Gennaro Piciullo and Ronnie Sciortino Jr. fished off the Babylon Village Pool Doc...k on Thursday morning. The guys set up a clam chum slick and were able to bring loads of blowfish close to the pier. Gennaro stopped by the shop later in the day to show us 30 jumbo puffers that jumped on fresh clam strips. On Monday Chuck Weinscheimer drifted near "Frank and Dick's" in the SBC. Chuck managed a healthy 3.70lb. fluke on bait. Harvey Mueller let us know that there's keeper stripers in the ocean. He caught a 29" bass on fresh clam and reported a few caught by others that day. The North side of the Great South Bay has been consistently overrun by "schoolie" bass. Daiwa SP Minnows, 6" paddle tail Bass Assassins on 1/2 oz. heads, and GuidesSecret Baby Bottle Pops have been working effectively. Just a reminder that the Annual Multi-Species Season Long Tournament is underway and is open to anyone that wants to enter. Sign-ups may be done by phone or come by the shop. See more

Look who showed up already...JUMBO Blowfish in the Great South Bay. Put down a little clam chum and fresh clam on a long shank flounder hook. Just make sure you bring a couple of 5 gallon buckets to fill up.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 29.08.2020

Although it's been tough to fish with heavy winds there's been some activity. Loads of small stripers were caught by dock, boat and beach. Ronnie Sciortino had a few 28"-30" bass in the back of Tobay. Sandworms and small poppers worked best. Hans and Joe anchored and clam chummed the Robert Moses Bridge on Saturday. They had 6 schoolies through the outgoing tide. Chuck Weinscheimer had an outstanding catch on Saturday. He nailed a 3.02 pound flounder in West Channel. Richie Kehoe and another caught 3 flounder to 2lbs. in the same area. Several other crews tried for flounder but the bite was slow. We are open for take out orders, curbside delivery and phone orders. The shop is carrying sandworms, bloodworms, fresh clams, fresh bunker, squid strips, whole squid, XL local spearing, sardines, fresh mussels, clam belly and clam chum.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 11.08.2020

The XL local spearing is in. We have 1 pounders and 2.5 pounders available. With bait of this quality we suggest making some room in your freezer. Call for individual and bulk pricing. To keep everyone filled in on the latest developments in local fishing we'll be posting updates frequently. Things are not affected below the surface of our bays and oceans. Weakfish, blackfish, codfish, flounder, and striped bass have taken up early residence and been caught throughout the past weeks of this pandemic. Fishing seems to be the only real taste of normalcy. Simply put, a way to get away from it all if for a few hours. Private boat owners, surfcasters, and dock anglers all must make the effort to keep safe distance from others. We want to keep enjoying the sport that drives us.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 22.07.2020

This tournament is open to anyone. Entries can be done by phone or come by the shop. We are open for curbside delivery and take out orders. We may be doing dockside delivery if necessary. In times like this those who adapt will persevere. It's about keeping us mentally healthy while supplementing our diets with fresh fish. We are here for you.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 20.07.2020

Great News for Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle and our customers. After more than 40 years in business we know how important it is to provide the best and freshest bait around. We will never be without sandworms again. Our shipments come directly from the diggers in Maine now, no more relying on a middle man. We'll always get the best and liveliest and have the giant ones that our sharpies use for Spring stripers. Blackfish, porgies, kingfish, blowfish, triggerfish, flounder, weakfish, and sea bass can't resist them either. Whole and half flats of sandworms can also be reserved and purchased by calling us a day or two ahead. With the crisis limiting activities, fishing is still a great way to get outside. We beg that everyone is responsible. Please do not fish in groups or gather on the beaches.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 02.07.2020

My apologies go out to the people that expected me to have sandworms and fresh mussels for the opening day of flounder season. For reasons beyond my control we are currently without both. I am working on a new sandworm supplier and will have something for Friday. I have also found a new supplier for fresh mussels and will have them by 9am today. Once again I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Lindenhurst Bait & Tackle 23.06.2020

Water temperatures are above normal for this time of year. Local species seem to be starting early. There's been reports of bunker being pushed by schoolie stripers East of the Robert Moses Bridge. Hans caught and released a few bass off the Sayville dock earlier in the week using sandworms. Codfish and small blackfish have been caught in good numbers off some of the 20 mile wrecks on fresh clam. Rich from the shop has scored consistently over the last few weeks with white pe...rch to 2.25lbs. It was his biggest to date, just missing the NYS record by .13lb. Weakfish are inside the Great South Bay near Ocean Beach feeding on spearing and grass shrimp. The shop will be open and allows the options of curbside pick-up, order and pay by phone, or maximum of 2 people coming in at one time. The six foot rule is in place and staff will be wearing PPE. Rich is also open to any suggestions that might make it easier to get out and fish and still remain 100% safe. The shop is stocked with fresh clam, bunker, spearing, squid, sardines, and all freshwater baits. Fresh mussels and live sandworms are due in for the opening of flounder and blackfish season. Please call Rich at 631-226-9030 for hours of operation and any questions. See more
