Lucky Orphans Horse Rescue 02.05.2021

CAUTION!! Graphic video!! (More content in comments section) The work of rescue never ends. Even after the horses come to the farm and even year after, the care of the herd is ongoing. Rebel is our oldest resident, at over 40 years old. He has narcolepsy and sometimes his episodes can be traumatic. ... Our stable cameras caught his most recent episode, and our amazing team was quick to respond! Rebel collapsed at 1:46. During the next 7 hours we dissembled a wall in the stall, and flipped him over multiple times. He also received Bemer treaments, reiki and Bowen. Finally at 8:50, after a long team effort Rebel was standing again!! Abby walked him after he got up to get his circulation going. Today, he is fully recovered and enjoying the Spring Day!! Your donations are so valuable for rebels care and the entire herd.

We present to you, Copal, the Horse of the Week! Copal is the rescues name sake! His registered name is Lucky Orphan and he was born in 1994. Copal is a thoroughbred, born into the racing world, where he raced a total of 74 times and earned $142,000. In 2006, he came to live at LOHR, five years after his racing career ended and shortly after his eventing career ended. Copal enjoyed running and jumping, he raced for 7 years and evented for 5 years. Because he loved racing so m...uch, he was just a little bit too much horse for his owner which brought him here to LOHR to retire in 2006. Now, at LOHR, he is enjoying his retired life, getting groomed and playing with his pasture mates in the paddock. Through a twist of fate, his brother Gil who shares the same father, is also here at LOHR with him. He is extremely sweet and loves everyone he meets. If you have a soft spot in your heart for Copal, you can come visit him Monday-Friday from 9am - 3pm. Copal requires $23 a day in care. Any donation would be greatly appreciated! https://cuddly.com/donate/4705592/copal #peoplehelpinghorseshealpeople #luckyorphans #horseoftheweek #copal #thoroughbred

We’ve always known LOHR is a magical place... but, unfortunately. we still haven’t found that pot of gold on the other side of the rainbow. This $5 Friday can you help us make up for it? Zoe, our resident unicorn, would be so grateful!

Meet Ruby, Our Horse of the Week! Ruby is a 13-year-old Belgian draft horse who was born on Halloween! Her registered name with the Belgian Draft Horse Corporation of America is Fezziwig Tulip. She arrived at LOHR in 2018 with her father, Pom. Ruby and Pom's owner died young and left her beloved horses to her parents. But, the parents could not afford to keep them, and when they were unable to find these two gentle giants' homes it was looking like they would have to put th...em down. That's when we stepped in and welcomed Pom and Ruby at Lucky Orphans. Today, Ruby is a crucial member of our therapy program on the farm. Anyone who spends a few minutes with her can easily understand why! She loves a belly scratch, and always gallops across the paddock to say hello if you pass her on a trail ride. If you have a soft spot in your heart for Ruby, you can come visit her Monday-Friday from 9am - 3pm. Ruby requires $20 a day in care. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. #forthehorses #rescue #peoplehelpinghorseshealpeople See more
