The men and women of the Lyncourt Fire Department send our thoughts and prayers to the Watertown fire department after the Line of duty death of one of their members during a training exercise.

As the snow builds up around fire hydrants, if you’re out shoveling, please help us help you and keep a clear path around the fire hydrant, if you have one in your yard. Every minute helps, and keeping fire hydrants clear helps tremendously. As always thank you for your continuing support. Stay safe and warm!

Just a friendly reminder that Santa will make his way through Lyncourt tomorrow (Sunday, 12/20) morning. Due to the ongoing pandemic, Santa will be greeting and waving to everyone from afar and keeping his distance. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!

~Residential fire~ Yesterday morning at 06:36 Mattydale Fire along with mutual aid from Liverpool engine 5, Lyncourt RP4, East Syracuse engine 3, and Moyers Cor...ners engine 32 was alerted for a possible residential fire. Mattydale Car 1, Quint-3, engine-2 responded. Car 1 arrived first to find heavy smoke showing and getting reports of a basement fire. Quint 3 arrived deployed a hand line and entered the residence to locate the basement. Once crews were able to locate the basement, crews located and extinguished the fire. While other crews began checking for more fire on the upper floor, they found the fire extended into the upper floor in a bedroom of the home which was extinguished. The Onondaga County Fire Investigation unit was requested to the scene to determine the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported. The cause fire is still under investigation. National grid, NAVAC ambulance, and Onondaga County Sheriffs also responded. Thank you to all companies who assisted with the incident. Without the team work and dedication of the volunteers who showed up yesterday, things could have been a lot worse. It’s with heavy hearts we inform everyone of the passing of Past Chief, Jack Matott. During his 50 years of service, Jack held nearly every position in the fire line and executive line.
