Exciting news for our Upick orchard! We’ve purchased a portion of the land just north of our current Upick Orchard! Some of you may remember it fondly as the cow pasture of years past! Today we spent some time measuring and planning what varieties and how many rows to add to expand our existing planting. This will take a few years before it will be open to the public, but we’re so excited to share the news and have you along for the journey as we go from pastureland to productive orchard! Arkansas Black are finally open for picking!! This heritage apple variety is the latest ripening variety in our orchard. It is hard and crunchy with a floral aroma and hint of spice. It’s one the few apple varieties that actually improves in flavor while in storage, so stick it in your fridge and forget about it for a few months! You’ll be pleasantly surprised when you pull it out! This variety is only available to pick in our Upick orchard (none available pre-picked i...n our sales pavilion).
