#Repost @psych_today with @get_repost Many people are feeling overwhelmed and stuck these days. While circumstances play a major role in these feelings, certain patterns of thinking can make us feel even worse. "Recognize where your mind is working against you," advises PT contributor Katharine Brooks. "Counter your negative thoughts with kinder, more self-compassionate statements: 'It’s a lot to do, but I’ve handled lots of responsibilities before. I can handle this.' Or... 'I just need to calm down and get organized. I can do this.'" Writing down to-dos, breaking bigger tasks down into smaller steps, and more clearly prioritizing the projects and the steps can be helpful, she suggests. "Taking action is the best way to fight feelings of being overwhelmed." For more advice, click our bio link. #work #responsibilities #overwhelmed #tips #psychology #thinking #self-compassion
