Whats with the TITLE?!? Let me explain: The term, "The Land of Fruits, Flakes and Nuts" originated from the ultra liberal qualities and the hippie movement started in Northern California. From there it has turned into an insult, a joke, and just a common stereotype of the culture and happenings of California culture. Now I am not saying this is true. Actually California runs and operates like any other place, besides at the governmental level, which I will leave out. Califo...rnia is divided by two main areas, Northern California (NoCal) and Southern California (SoCal). Both have their identities and ways of life. One thing is for sure though, a day in California will always be an interesting one. It does have its crazies, is know for its entrepreneurial spirit, and the beautiful weather. This project is more a perspective from a transplanted individual in an area that is so far different culturally and environmentally from their home community and town. The imagery showcased will not just show California, but serve as a 1st person perspective, through the eyes of a New Englander. First we start with Southern California, where it is warm, there are palm trees, the weather never really changes, and it is a common daily event to see a growing parrot population that seems to have taken over San Diego and an eclectic beach culture containing beautiful scenery, contrasted up against gritty, run down, and dilapidated architecture. Lets not forget the ever wonderful bum population that seems to go about their day to day business basking in the sun. This is a North Easterner's view of the US starting in Southern California!
