NY State Highway 12 has now re-opened.

Update on State Highway 12 Closure. NYSEG is currently attempting to bypass the ruptured Natural Gas line near 5090 State Highway 12 in the Town of Norwich. T...he gas leak has been slowed, but the fuel is still burning as the line continues to off gas. Norwich Fire Department is on the scene standing by. State Highway 12 will remained closed during this operation for the safety of the traveling public and crews working on site. For anyone traveling along State Highway 12 (south of Norwich) Traffic will continued to be diverted down County Road 32 to County Road 32C (Halfway House bridge). Access can still be gained to Walmart, Lowes and other businesses north of the incident scene at Jeffrey's RV & Mobile Homes. If travelers are coming from the South and want to go to Walmart and Lowes, travelers must travel County Road 32 to Hale Street, then south on State Highway 12.
