In 2011, NuHealth documented epidemic rates of overweight and obese children in Roosevelt. In 2012 the NuHealth Foundation secured funding and launched an innovative anti-obesity initiative in the Roosevelt Middle School, with support from Hofstra University. We knew at the start that moving the needle would require ongoing education, inspiration and engagement -- from students and families, to policy-makers. We will stay the course because left unchecked, adolescent obesity... leads to SEVERE health and lifestyle complications.
