This is my boy Jack. He is one of my absolute favorite males! He is a bit small for a boy (though he will still grow some) but he is an absolute doll. He is just pure mush and nothing phases him. I imagine he would have been perfect for a little girl to dress up and push around in a doll stroller I may have been carrying him around like a baby in my arms while rubbing his belly and giving him kisses ... And while he is such a dopey mush he is still playful and loves to play with me too. He is probably what I'd consider the perfect rat! I hope to have babies from his line available next year. His siblings are the Agouti Silvermane Downunder line. So they will be as pretty outside as they are inside I am so excited for this line! (Last pic is him as a baby)

Did you know that you can paint your cage?! This is actually for my ferrets. But you can do it for your rats as well. It's 100% safe if done correctly!... You can't just use any paint. I used Rust-Oleum spray paint in Lilac and Very Berry. They have tons of colors! The cage then must cure for several weeks before you can use it or even have it in the house really. You want to make sure all the fumes are gone and the longer the better. I'll be doing it for 2+ weeks. So you will need a second cage to use while waiting or if doing a Double cage, do like the bottom first then wait and switch and do the top. Or like me I have a Quad (2 doubles) and will switch them out. Yes again, it is safe. Rust-Oleum is safe enough that people use it on bird cages, and they are super sensitive and they say it is safe for children's toys! Many many people use it for their rats cages with zero issues. If your rats are big chewers, it will obviously mess the paint job up over time and you can't just touch it up without going through the whole cure process so keep that in mind. I likely wouldn't do it if you had bar chewers. This bottom pan is the 3" pan from https://www.bassequipment.com/ I highly recommend. I'll be sure to share pics when it is completely finished though that's gonna be like 4+ weeks away for both cages to cure lol I highly recommend using gloves, I didn't at first and my hands were pink! Oops Also I recommend getting this $2 paint drop plastic thing and not painting your driveway pink but that's your choice I used about 4.5 cans of pink I think and probably do another coat/touchups but I'm all painted out lol I did it over several days. And now just comes the waiting....
I'm doing some deep cleaning and thought I'd make a little educational video on the easiest way to get the cement mixing tubs into the critter nations :) hope this helps some!
