Tidus came in for his first wellness visit with us today and did amazing! He especially liked the pettings and treats afterwards :)

Today is #NationalMuttDay - a day dedicated to embracing, saving and celebrating mixed breed dogs. This special day was created to raise awareness of the plight of mixed breed dogs in shelters around the nation, as approximately 80% of dogs in shelters are mixed breeds. Most pure breeds that end up in the shelter are generally rescued quickly by either the public wanting a less expensive pure bred dog or by a pure breed rescue. The day’s mission is to educate the public about the sea of mixed breed dogs that desperately await new homes and to celebrate the amazing characteristics that the mix of breeds creates in each individual dog. Our phones are still working, so we can assist you over the phone with certain things, and we are still planning on keeping all scheduled appointments this afternoon. We are working to fix this problem as soon as possible, and thank everyone for their patience with us until we get it resolved!

Update: Our new friend Sherbert here has not been claimed, and is staying at OVH until he finds his forever home. He showed up as a stray at our LVT Ashley's house, who brought him in to the clinic to get him checked out. He has had vaccines (rabies and FVRCP), has been microchipped, dewormed, is neutered, tested negative for FeLV/FIV, and had full blood work done (all of which was normal). He is estimated to be about a year old. He is litter box trained and appears to be 100% healthy. He’s very loving and playful. He seems to like cats but is scared of dogs (will hiss at them). If anyone is interested in adopting Sherbert, please message or call us for more information!

We would just like to take a moment to remind everyone that we are still doing curbside appointments at this time, and plan to do so until further notice (note: we are making exceptions for cases of euthanasia). We are doing things this way out of an abundance of caution, to try to minimize any potential risk to both the staff and clients of OVH. We understand it is hard, and sometimes a little scary, to let your babies go in without you, but we assure you we are doing everything we can to try to make their visit go as smooth as possible. We are all in this together, and if we all continue to act safely, we will all make it through this together. Thank you for your continued faith in OVH. Stay well everybody
