We ALMOST forgot about these! Seed potatoes for purple sweets and some red and even a few chits available at tomorrow's give-away+sale! 10am-2pm bring some bags, boxes, or trays for your LOOT.
We know dame's rocket is invasive; but, we never knew it was edible! NOTE: It's already flowering so it's too late to cook it. You can still help keep it under control by cutting the flowers and enjoying them in a VASE! At least cut them before they drop more seed to spread their footprint. https://foragerchef.com/dames-rocket-buds-raabs/
THE FRINGE TREE IS BLOOMING! This is cause for BIG celebration. Last year, it didn't--it probably caught a blight. We treated it with an organic copper fungicide early this season. The flowers won't stick around long--don't miss it--Stop in on SATURDAY! https://www.wildflower.org/plants/result.php?id_plant=chvi3
A warm but busy afternoon for Garden Club!
Look at those adorable lunch boxes that bean plants have! We hope to see you at our SEEDLING GIVE AWAY + SALE. There will be weird veggie combos, some annuals, SEEDS, perennials, pots, herbs, and other surprises. 29MAY 10-2pm
Would you be willing to do some "at-home" volunteering? Ms.Caesandra is overwhelmed with small projects that have taken over her apartment. Most are tasks which could be done in your jammies while binging your fave shows. If you'd like to help, connect soon and Ms.Caesandra can get you a kit. BIG THANKS TO LUCY FOR TACKLING THE SUNFLOWER PACKETS!
I hope this can be useful https://www.mother.ly/news/dc-capitol-protests-shooting
Do we have some students, parents, or teachers willing to write some letters? Here's a local treasure that is at risk of becoming inaccessible to the public. I take our interns here to show them examples of free fun and active leisure.

Super HUGE THANKS to CHS mom, Lauren, for assembling our scarecrow family!! Just a few more details to add--and you'll be able to squeeze in for a funny fall photo opp too! The scene will be up through Veterans Day so stop over and get your selfies.
A reminder from Reinstein Woods "Just before this last snowfall, staff noticed multiple large areas of confetti on and off the trails. This plastic confetti will not decompose and may end up eaten by wildlife or breaking up into microplastics in our waterways. We know it is hard to find outdoor places to celebrate with friends and family at this time- and we love that so many people are choosing to share joy at the Woods- but please be sure to celebrate responsibly." Curious animals may choke on the foil/glitter or it could clog their lower digestive system causing a long painful death.
Three Sisters Potluck: Change of Plans The weather forecast looks wet this week. :( We're scaling back the event to just highlight the special corn varieties we've grown. Please join us on Thursday, October 22nd from 5:00-6:30 for some CORNY fun instead! Pelion Garden grows corn every year as part of our Three Sisters mounds. This year we invite you to taste strawberry popping corn and grind our garden-grown Montana Lavender flour corn--that's right--purple colored flour! Try your hand at de-kerneling cobs, view our collection of mutated ears, and make blue tortillas. Weather-permitting, there will be craft opportunities. We would love to have you there!
It's tough to be a bird in the city. Do the parts you can.
A spooky blue moon will illuminate the sky on Halloween
Reminder: students are invited to hunt worms for adding to our veggie beds the last week of October.
Fans, the weather looks like it will cooperate! Students are welcome. We have hand cranking extractor and we'd love for the kids to take a turn. Please ensure they bring a winter glove for cranking that way we won't have to spritz hand sanitizer near the honey and frames.
In case Halloween isn't canceled... See Chris Minor's CANDY SLIDE The candy shoots out of the end of the slide into the kid’s baggies. No-contact, no-touching trick or treating. Have fun! ... For anyone interested in building their own candy slide, I made a build tutorial available here. Enjoy! https://www.etsy.com//8657/the-candy-slide-build-tutorial
