One group of frontline responders paid tribute to another last week as the captain of Howard Wheat Engine Company #4, Bill Conklin, delivered pizzas provided by his company for neighboring healthcare workers at Cornerstone Family Healthcare. Conklin said the company chose to provide this thank you lunch as Cornerstone’s workers are deserving, dedicated and have worked on community projects with the fire company in the past. We are one of the Fourth Ward firehouses, and they ...are a neighboring healthcare facility. Our firehouse reaches out to the community, and we have worked together for our community in the past. It was a Safety Day. Cornerstone gave out backpacks while our fire company demonstrated fire prevention for kids, Conklin said. They are a deserving group, and we are glad to have been able to provide this lunch.
