2020 Dec 30 - Port Jervis Police Reform Meetings Update for the Public. As of now all meetings at this time will be held via Zoom and will be available to the public to view as well at 405 793 5811 with no password. We will hold 4 meetings at 6:30pm that will be no longer than 1-2 hours long and will consist of the following:... Wednesday, January 6, 2021 The Police Chief will give a presentation of the Port Jervis Police Department after which members will be charged with preparing questions, ideas and thoughts. Tuesday, January 12, 2021 The committee will meet, present and discuss the questions, ideas and thoughts they have come up with that could help the Port Jervis Police Department run more efficiently and effectively for the residents, businesses and visitors. Of course new ideas, thoughts, concerns and questions will arise out of this meeting so the members will once again be charged with preparing alternative thoughts, concerns and questions to present at the next meeting Friday, January 15, 2021 The committee will meet and present those alternatives that will be gathered into the concept of a tentative plan. Friday, January 22, 2021 The committee will meet and be presented with a tentative plan. If they approve of this plan it will go directly to the Common Council for a public and council comment and possibly action to approve or if it is not acceptable to the committee, there will be a meeting again of the committee in early February (no date set yet) to make those changes that will go to the Common Council and General Public on February 8th. Monday, February 8, 2021 The public will be able to speak regarding the plan. If the council likes the plan, they will then be charged with passing the plan. If they are not or take exception to the plan due to public comment then it will come back to the committee for potential changes. *Please note that the public is invited to all of our committee meetings but will not be able speak during those meetings. They may give input by sending an email to [email protected] or sending a letter to the mayors office (that correspondence will be read to the committee at its next meeting).

2020 Dec 15 - PORT JERVIS COMPOST AREA NOTICE.. Please be aware that after this Saturday the 19th of December the city will not have anyone to man the landfill until Spring. The Common Council voted last night on the 2021 budget eliminating the reduced dump pass program on Saturdays beginning January 1, 2021. The city normally does not open the compost area in the winter.... Those that have garbage, that would normally use the reduced dump pass, can still dispose of that garbage at the county transfer station. The county transfer station is located at the city landfill on Canal Street. Dumping will be at county’s rate and during their normal hours of operation that include Saturday’s.

2020 Dec 8 - City of Port Jervis Residents - Final leaf pickup for the season is occurring this week. Please put out your loose or bagged leaves for pickup. After that time, please call DPW to arrange for pickup at (845) 858-4000. **Reminder bagged leaves MUST be in biodegradable bags.

2020 Oct 22 - NOTICE: This message was just received from Orange and Rockland Utilities: Today at 1:00pm there will be a four (4) hour emergency outage in the Orange Street area in Port Jervis to allow Orange and Rockland Utilities to repair a leaking transformer step bank at pole 40256/50256. This outage will impact approximately 477 customers for the duration of the outage. Due to the necessity of performing this work, there is no alternate date. Sorry for the inconvenience.

2020 Oct 19 - There will be a 3rd Ward Meeting tonight at Engine 1 fire house located at 27 Orange Street at 7:00pm. It will be attended by your council representatives as well as the mayor and police Chief to speak about the Police Reform and Reinvention initiative by the state. If you live in another ward and missed your ward meeting you are more than welcome to attend.

The aim of the study was to assess the strengths and weaknesses of the existing regional transit network in the Mid-Hudson Valley and to identify opportunities to improve regional connections. 2020 Nov 29 - As winter approaches, so does on-street parking regulations. As of 12:01am on Tuesday, Dec 1, 2020, by local law, overnight on street parking ban begins until Thursday, April 1, 2021. In light of no snow or ice in the forecast, the city will waive these rules until 12:01am on Friday, December 11, 2020 unless a storm comes into the forecast in which this waiver will cease. We will reassess this date and perhaps push it out further depending on the weather. ... It is imperatively important that people share this information as the city will only post any announcements about on street parking on the city website, the Mayors Facebook page and send a Nixle alert.
