Come & check out this outdoor art screening: Lend A Hand To Bust Stereotypes on March 31st. This is the culminating event of our inter-generational public art project in which we worked with seniors and students at the Forest Hills Jewish Center.

We worked on an art initiative "Better Together - Stereotype Buster" with students in the 6th and 8th grade at the Forest Hills Jewish Center Religious School and older adult participants from Forest Hills Jewish Center and the Young Israel Senior League. This intergenerational artwork speaks to the importance of understanding Stereotypes; from the reasons we have them, to how not to let them be the way we define ourselves or others. The artworks will be presented in the comm...unity this spring as an outdoor video projection installation at the Forest Hills Jewish Center, Forest Hills, NY. This is an excerpt from the video installation. This project was generously sponsored by the Legacy Heritage Better Together Program which seeks to support the growth and development of our students, and the health and wellbeing of our seniors. It gives FHJC students an exciting opportunity to live their Jewish values. Artwork co-created with RPGA Studio, Inc., and Yvonne Shortt. Ms. Shortt is a public collaborative sculpture / installation artist who incorporates sustainability, race, equality, and / or disability into each piece. Workshop of Shortt www.yvonneshortt.com

We are a small team but we work very hard. We live and work in these communities and we have a vested interest In their success. We volunteer countless hours and are thankful for our many volunteers in the community. Last week we cleaned up graffiti on the Yellowstone Blvd underpass mural. We created this mural with the community in 2018. The mural not only beautified the community but addressed crash vehicles on the block, marijuana stashed in the grass, garbage, and broken tree limbs. See Before/After photos.
