Sag Harbor Historical Society 28.06.2021

SHHS SPRING GARDEN TOUR Last Saturday, a beautiful Spring day, almost two hundred residents and visitors took part in the Society's inaugural Spring Garden Tour - making it a great success. Six gardens were on the ticket to visit as well as the newly renovated and completed art center, The Church. The gardens displayed a variety of flowers and vegetation, and each created its own special atmosphere. There was a cozy town garden, a grand open garden overlooking Long Beach, an oriental garden creating a sense of Zen, a large, colorful, joyful, flowering garden and a unique herb garden. The diversity of the landscapes and the variety of plantings entertained one and all. To see the video by Nancy Remkus click here https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/567110933

Cancelled: In-Person Light Up the Harbor Event Sunday December 20th 2:00 p.m. 174 Main Street, Sag Harbor Sadly, COVID has struck yet again. The Sunday afternoon gathering event at the Historical Society has had to be cancelled. With numbers on the rise, the risks to gathering in-person are also on the rise. So the in-person part of Light Up the Harbor is cancelled BUT RECOGNITION IS STILL ON !!! ... THE SHOW WILL GO ON! Trustees are reviewing the submissions and will be voting shortly and recognition awards will be delivered to the doorsteps of those who received particular recognition. These decisions are not easy because, as one trustee said, "They all deserve recognition in my opinion; there's been such spirit applied to all of these works of art and creativity." We have been so buoyed by everyone's enthusiasm and are excited that we can still share the house decorations that have been submitted, via all of our "virtual tools": eBlasts, a slideshow of the decorated houses, FB, and a blog post on our website ... and we will! The village has been abuzz with talk of this event by spectators and participants alike. Our little village has truly come together to "make this season bright"!
