REOPENING JUNE 22: Hello everyone! The business community is quite confident that Columbia County will enter Phase 3 of Reopening this week--I am now taking appointments for Monday, June 22, and beyond! As I've detailed in previous emails, I have significant guidance from NY State and the American Massage Therapy Association about various safety precautions which I am implementing. I am reassured that more and more evidence is appearing about the mighty power of masks to prev...ent covid-19 transmission--you may have read about the hairstylists who realized they were positive for covid-19 after working with 90+ people, but because they wore masks, none of their clients were infected. Nonetheless--if you are instructed by your primary health care provider to maintain more isolation, or just personally don't feel the time is yet right for you to get a massage, or return to other activities, please listen to that!! You may book appointments here: https://square.site//BXWN49S0CR/sarah-falkner-healing-arts Online booking times are currently being offered for Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays between 11am-8pm. If you are in urgent need and want to inquire about same-day/last-minute openings, and/or if your only weekly availability for appointments is on a Sunday or Monday, please contact me directly (if you text, please be sure to include your name!) 347-436-6725 (TEXT OR VOICE 24/7 - my ringer is never on) [email protected] Please remember: --arrive wearing a 2 or 3-ply fabric face covering or disposable mask --do not arrive early or bring people with you inside --we are encouraged to encourage you to prepay online, or from your phone; or you can write out a check at home. --you can pay online here: https://squareup.com/market/sarah-falkner or Venmo me --by law I have to remind you that you before you arrive, you need to check your body temperature is normal and to cancel or reschedule your appointment if you have a fever or have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the previous 14 days, have had a positive COVID-19 test in the previous 14 days, and/or have had close contact with a confirmed or suspected COVID-19 case in the previous 14 days. Thank you for your cooperation! If you have specific requests or questions, please be in touch! I look forward to seeing you!

Hoping everyone is staying well, safe and sound: just a reminder that NY State is on PAUSE until May 15, and I don't have any word yet on when it's considered safe to re-open and what that might look like. But I will be sure to announce when we are ready to re-open!

I'm curating a small group of resources I think could be super-useful to read and share at this time. My intention is to make a pinned post so it's all in one place but I can't do that from a phone so please bear with me as I add to and edit this. CORONAVIRUS RESOURCE KIT This kit is a collectivized document that will be updated as more mutual aid projects and resources are created. Most of the resources here come from survivors and those marginalized by state violence, so i...n a sense, prepared to respond to a crisis when there’s no social safety net. This compilation features resources from disabled, queer, elderly, Asian, and indigenous people. Apologies as it’s quite NY specific. https://docs.google.com//1Rcan4C_e6OBFBI5bUn7M/mobilebasic *** Mental Health in the time of COVID-19

** also emailed** Hello, everyone! I'm sure you've gotten a lot of newsletters like this recently, but I just wanted to make sure you're aware that I'm keeping informed of and following both the CDC's guidelines and several massage therapy professional organizations' best practices, and taking extra hygienic precautions in the office and my life, in order to help keep each and every one of you personally healthy and safe, as well as limit the spread of covid-19 (coronavirus...Continue reading

Wishing everyone wellness and calmness during this time as the new coronavirus COVID-19 circulates our planet. We can and should remain calm, but even if you personally are not at risk for serious implications from this virus, please help the collective by taking seriously the best hygienic practices (which are the same whether coronavirus or regular influenza). I want to reassure folx I've stepped up the frequency I use antimicrobial cleaners on all the surfaces around the ...office, and there's hand sanitizer on the desk for you to use when you arrive if you like. As I say every year, whether it is influenza or something more serious, please just stay home and do selfcare if you are unwell, even if that's a last-minute decision--just let me know you can't make it to your appointment! Preparing is what we can do--as the French government says right now, "Everyone in France should be following this basic health advice. The general population is asked to "show solidarity" with the elderly and vulnerable by adhering to health measures that help avoid the spread of the virus." FYI There's nothing magic about hand sanitizer--20-30 seconds of soap and water handwashing remains the gold standard for disease prevention--but it is convenient when you're out and about, so here's some recipes for making your own. https://www.popsci.com/story/diy/diy-hand-sanitizer/ The full CDC guidelines for prevention are here: https://www.popsci.com/story/diy/diy-hand-sanitizer/ Here is some translated information on covid-19, issued by Portland Oregon's county government, h/t Emory Mort. Nepali, Swahili, Somali, Vietnamese, Russian, etc etc. About 15 different languages--if you know anyone who could use this! See more
