ATTN: Skaters -- last night's presentation was stellar, thanks to Belinda, Benj and John - thank you! The 3 design proposals will rip over what we have now. Those of you who showed support last night by attending or watching thank you! BUT, it you missed last night, tonight at Saratoga Springs' City Hall is ANOTHER important meeting and it would be awesome if we had a show of skaters there to support financing the new, revised skatepark and better yet, if you made a public comment at the mic at 6:00PM OCT. 22, 2020 at S.S. City Hall 474 BROADWAY SARATOGA SPRINGS NY - public comment starts at 6!!

Hey everyone - Some good news: The City is hosting two public skatepark design meetings next Wednesday, 10/21 at 6:00 and 6:45pm. Registration is required and unfortunately due to COVID, only 15 people will be allowed at each meeting. Just a quick update that the skatepark design meeting scheduled for 3/31 has been postponed until further notice. We'll post a new date and time once one becomes available. Thanks for your patience...Please be safe and healthy!

Some skatepark news: First, the city is beginning a multi-million dollar upgrade to the entire East Side Recreation complex this week, which will last until November. This is known as the Great Outdoors Project. Regretfully, the entire East Side recreation complex, including the skatepark, will be closed for the duration of this upgrade. Second, as you may know, the city has dedicated a substantial amount of money to upgrading the skatepark to be a modern, fully concrete par...k. So even though we're losing the current park for a few months, we will be getting a new one at some point when the complex upgrade is completed. Pillar Design Studios has been selected to design the new park, and they will be holding a public design session later this month - most likely on Tuesday, 3/31, in the evening. Once the date and time are finalized, we will make a post inviting the public to come and offer feedback on the new design. Check out Pillar's site - www.pillardesignstudios.com - and you will see that they have designed some of the best parks in the country. The city recognizes that it's far from ideal to lose our skatepark for the spring and summer but their commitment to a brand new park is very positive for our skate community and it is absolutely in our best interest to be patient, kind and professional while these necessary upgrades are made. Incredible news for Saratoga Skatepark: Tuesday night the City of S.S. voted unanimously to upgrade it from the steel ramps to 100% cement surfacing! Detailed plans will be posted here when available.

The "50-yr old skateboarder" who helped Save the Skatepark made a skate doc that is showing for FREE a week from tonight Feb 22 in Troy - a city that also needs a skatepark.
