Calling all local art sellers! The Art Cart is being retired...I’d love to know if anyone out there wants to be the new owner? It is 3 steel display grids app...rox 24 wide by 78 high (think triangle shape) and each panel can be used independently of the others (secures with included hardware). The base is an industrial heavy duty dolly with 4 steel rollers and a guestimate weight capacity of 1,000+ pounds. (It weighs about 80-110 lbs - it’s old-school). The triangle grid is adhered to the dolly with an adhesive applied to the wood base. Right now both are separate for pick-up/travel. Both require at least 2 people to pick it up (and I’m not one of them). There are 6 arms/hooks that come with the grids that can hold hanging items as well. I would display my art with zip ties through the grids. Perfect way to showcase your art for home-based sales. It is eye-catching from the drive-way or curb. $120 Contact me if interested, thanks!

What it means to be a self employed artist: Some days I create my own paintings Other days I work as an interior painter I sell my own art I make art someone ...else asks me to make I buy furniture, refinish it, and resell it I create a ton of pet portraits, especially around the holidays I build custom frames for all of my own work, and now I get paid to do it for other artists I paint house portraits Some days, because I have a truck, I get paid to deliver paintings for my artist friends For awhile, I helped run an art gallery My favorite custom paintings to create are large octopi I paint custom wedding decor I design and paint custom theme rooms I live and breathe Mixed media art... For me, being a working artist means that there is no limit to what I can do. It’s all art. It’s all creative. And I love every project as much as the one before. Will I paint your kitchen cabinets? Yes! Will I repaint your dining room set? Yes! Can I paint a portrait of your dog? Yes! Will I paint a realistic landscape for you? No (sorry) Will I repaint your living room? Yes Can I make you your own octopus art? Yes please! I don’t just paint for fun, this is my job. Let me know what I can do for you! My art is my passion and I love working

Often I am asked, "How do I price my art?". We don't put prices on most of the art shown in our gallery. I prefer the visitors focus on the work rather than the cost. When I am asked how much for a particular piece, I check the book. That is the price we have agreed upon with the artist. We can negotiate away some of our commission, and often do to help the artist make the sale.... For my own work I have employed a more interpersonal method of pricing. I ask the patron, how much they feel their time is worth. What wage do they command for the work they do for a living? Then I match that wage, dollar for dollar for my time plus the material cost. Most are surprised at how expensive art becomes when viewed in that manner. The price changes depending on the customer. Some might think that unusual, but I think it fair. Some pieces however, I have a fixed price on. It's simply how much each is worth to me, and how much I need in order to part with them. I do find it ironic that some folks will advocate a livable minimum wage for those employed in the workforce, yet expect artists to work for significantly less. Money isn't everything but it is a necessary instrument in our society. On that note The Artists Cave is offering a special deal on this unique self portrait by the janitor. Was $1.25 million. Mention this post and get it for half off.
