Mirror Lake Ice Update

Town of North Elba 28.11.2020

MIRROR LAKE ICE UPDATE (Jan. 12, 2021) We are finally seeing some improvement of ice conditions on Mirror Lake. We are gradually approaching six (6) good inches in areas which is what we like for the initial skating areas. Individuals and the dogsled folks have ventured on to the lake and have reported some areas with slush and water. It is the advice of experts that no ice is safe ice and everyone needs to be extremely careful when venturing out on any ice. Going into are...as that have not been touched or walked on should be avoided. The predicted warmer temperatures the next few days and possible rain on Friday night will slow things down some, but having a good base of ice helps a lot. We are hoping to open up some skating areas and possibly part of the loop for the weekend but the weather will determine how we proceed. The following weekend, Jan. 22 24 could possibly see the opening of the Toboggan slide. Be safe, be smart.
