Valentine’s Day is a day when we show love to those who mean the most to us. From our significant others to our best friends, school friends to colleague’s, family members near and far, this day has turned into a yearly reminder to let the people we love hear it. This year, nearly a full year of pausing in place, the Town of Orangetown is asking you to join us in sending cards to those who could use an extra smile. We’re talking about our elders, a group of well-seasoned..., incredible humans who are sometimes forgotten. Welcome to OPERATION LOVE OUR SENIOR CITIZENS. The Town will be collecting Valentine’s Day cards through Tuesday, February 9, 2021 for our local senior citizens and we will distribute later that week. Buy a card or better yet, make a card for a senior citizen, bring it to Town Hall and drop it in the box marked Operation Love Our Senior Citizens. You’ll be very happy you did. Need some ideas on how to make a card? Orangetown is proud to participate in the Rockland Community Power energy program, a collaborative municipal program. This program will help lower energy costs for most residents, provides 100% renewable energy at affordable rates, and provides much stronger consumer protection. This collaborative program includes Clarkstown, Nyack, South Nyack, Upper Nyack, and the Village of Haverstraw. Clean Energy Option: Our community opted for ‘standard energy’ as the default choice.... A clean energy option is also available through the program at an excellent rate. Altogether through this program, nearly 21,000 Rockland households have switched to clean energy, resulting in avoided C02 emissions of 40,524 metric tons. Opting for clean energy gives each of us a way to make a measurable difference in our carbon footprint. If you would like to switch to the clean energy option, you can enroll at 845 859-9099 option 1 or online at www.RocklandCommunityPower.com. Your Energy Choice: By now, each of you should have the energy option of your choice, whether it’s participation in the program or opting out. If you were switched over, you should see Constellation NewEnergy CCA, the supplier for the RCP program, listed on the third page of your bill. If the option of your choice is not listed in your bill, please call at 845 859-9099 option 1 or email [email protected]. You can always opt in or out at any time. Alternative Energy Companies: We want to let our residents and small businesses know that some of the ESCOs (Energy Service Companies) are targeting our community with solicitations. Letters from the town program will come only on our letterhead and signed by the town supervisor. We do not knock on doors or make unsolicited calls. You can always check with our office at 845 359-5100. Consumer Protection: Collectively our six communities are providing a program that truly protects constituents from predatory practices and provides transparency, as well as advancing sustainability. There are no exit fees for any aspect of our program. Customer Assistance & Outreach: The helpline will continue for the life of the program, Monday to Friday, 9 to 5. The Rockland Community Power Coordinator will also continue to be available for presentations to your community group. Please get in touch at [email protected] or call 845 859-9099 option 1. We can all be proud of our accomplishments through this new program. This is our community program. You can always get in touch with questions or ideas with the RCP Community Coordinator at [email protected].
