When local and national headlines continue to demonstrate pervasive racism in American society, we can turn to historians to help us understand current events in the context of the ongoing struggle for human rights in our country. Please join us for the next Experience Rochester conversation titled Slavery, Race, and the Black Lives Matter Movement. Join Pulitzer Prize-winning author and historian Steve Hahn ’73 for a compelling discussion about slavery, emancipation, and today’s Black Lives Matter and global racial justice movement, Thursday, February 11, noon 1 pm EST. Amidst these turbulent times, the University of Rochester is offering an extension to both our Early Decision II and Regular Decision application deadlines. Applications for both admission plans are now due January 20. We hope this extension allows students, families, and counselors more time to navigate the challenges associated with COVID-19 and virtual interactions, and to take care of themselves and their families. Meet Sommer! *Class of 2020* (December grad!) From: St Paul, Minnesota Major: Environmental Science Minor: Sustainability ... Extracurricular Activities: Society of Earth and Environmental Science Students president, Grassroots, EcoReps, Creative Arts Club My advice is not to worry too much about what you think you 'should' be doing. College is a time to explore what your interests are and what you want to do for the rest of your life, so just focus on growing yourself and figuring yourself out instead of worrying what others are doing! #MeetAYellowjacket
