Gannon Park Vandalism The Village opened Gannon Park and its splash pad in early July so our families could have a local place to cool off, run around and relax. In order to do this, we followed the Department of Health regulations for parks and splash pads, and these regulations require sanitizing surfaces multiple times a day and providing hand sanitizer since we don’t have a sink in the park where people can wash their hands. We put gallon jugs of hand sanitizer in the par...k, which were surprisingly expensive, at $44 a gallon. But someone took the jugs off their brackets, dumped them, and threw the empty jugs on the ground. We can’t afford to replace them, just to see new ones dumped. So, visitors to the park will have to take responsibility for bringing their own hand sanitizer. We had decided to open the park on a conditional basis, as long as we can follow the rules to keep people safe. We don’t want to close it. As your Village officials, we ask everyone to help protect your neighbors and your local parks. If you see someone behaving destructively, say something, or report it to the Village Police Department (518-692-9332). If you have an impulse to destroy something, stop and think about who you are hurting. Find something else to do! Thank you. Mayor Pam Fuller

Notice of Smoke Testing The Village of Greenwich will be smoke testing the sanitary sewer lines in your area. Work will occur between ... June 22, 2020 to June 26, 2020 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Village of Greenwich will be doing smoke testing to the sanitary sewer lines in your area. These tests involve blowing harmless smoke into parts of the sewer system to find damage, improper connections, and where unwanted water may be entering the Village’s sewer system. As a result, smoke may be seen coming from roof vents, building foundations, catch basins, clean-outs, down spouts, sewer laterals or manhole covers. The smoke will not enter your home or business if it is properly plumbed, vented and the water traps contain water. Recommendation for Residents: If you have a bathroom or plumbing fixture that is not used or seldom used, traps should be filled by running water in the fixtures the day before scheduled smoke testing. Water can evaporate from unused plumbing fixtures and sewer gases can enter the home. Water should be added on a monthly basis thereafter in order to prevent sewer gas from entering the home or office. The smoke used is a non-toxic substance that is harmless to humans, pets, food, and material items. Since vapor can be an irritant, direct contact with the smoke may cause minor respiratory irritation in some people. If the smoke does enter the building, it will clear in a few minutes with proper ventilation. Please advise any member of the smoke testing crew if any leakage occurs in your home or business. Additionally, if you have any questions about the test health issues, or any other concerns, feel free to ask a crew member, or contact the Village at 518-692-2755. Your presence is not required during this test, and all public safety authorities have been notified of this event. We would appreciate it if you would mention this notice to your neighbors in case they have not received a notice. We thank you for your cooperation.
