They had a very different and unusual journey this year, but they have finally arrived to adore the Christ child, God’s gift to us all, and to offer their own gifts in return. What gifts do you bring to offer to God this year in gratitude for God’s gift of God’s own self to us all? What are your gifts? How will you offer them?

Today is the Feast of the Holy Innocents, after Matthew 2:15-18. So much loss of life because of the fear and failure of the temporary ruler. Our Magi visit White Plains Hospital lamenting the loss of all those who died of COVID-19 this year.

In this worship service for Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, we have special music from several of our youth, as well as a recording of Phyllis Worthington and the choir singing O Holy Night. We see some of the ornaments on the community tree, as well as a candlelit sanctuary. Pastor Jeff continues to speak on the theme of 'home for the holidays,' but turns from honoring our bodies to considering the design of our homes themselves, our houses and apartments and rooms. Like our bodies, our homes carry and make visible our past. What better time than Christmas to contemplate the influence of Jesus in our lives. They heard news that a new star could be seen. They searched the sky again for the star to guide them. No longer would the clouds and the distractions of the world around them delay them in their journey.

They were perplexed by the library’s posted policy of, Grab and Go, but decided to take the wise librarians at their word. They would have made a clean getaway, had not Melchior stopped to inquire whether any newly-acquired grimoires had recently been added to their collections. In the ensuing confusion, the others were able to grab their friend and quickly go. Once outside they scattered in all directions. They would regroup later.
