The City of White Plains is pleased to announce the Westchester County Mobile Shredder will be available at the Gedney Recycling Yard on Saturday, April 17 from 10 am - 1 pm.

Wowzers! So that was a snowstorm! 22.5" and you were able to see blacktop in most areas in the city within a couple of hours of the storm ending. AMAZING! People have asked us how we clear the roads in such a timely and efficient manner. Well, the secret is being prepared. We maintain our equipment and have a scheduled replacement program to make sure we are always storm ready. We also spend days on shift schedules, making sure we have personnel coverage from when the first s...nowflake falls. It's a team effort and we are so grateful that we have such great people that work for this department. It's a lot of dedication and hard work. The days are long not only during the storm but afterwards with clean up. Our crews are out there still clearing crosswalks so we thank you for your patience. Thank you to the residents for staying off the roads, allowing us to be safe and work effectively. We really appreciate it. See more
