World Hair

as some of you may have already heard, world hair will not be reopening post covid-19. i have hesitated to make a statement as i haven’t really known what to say but as time has gone on, a vacuum has been created as people have tried to create a narrative of why i decided to close. so now i feel compelled to address our closure. when the virus came here, i instantly realized that my business model was extremely vulnerable as world has always operated on a walk in basis wi...th maximum density in the shop being the goal. simply stated, the introduction of an airborne respitory virus makes our business model fundamentally unsafe so we closed immediately. i sat home for 3 months wondering about my staff, my business, my livelihood, our community, etc. all the bills kept coming in as rg&e, spectrum, insurance continued to debit my account although no money was going into it. it was a desperate, terrifying experience. anyway, fast forward to the nys reopening guidelines. no walk ins, 50% capacity, close the waiting room, samitation protocols and staff ppe. this formula for reopening renders my business model unprofitable and considering i’m already 3 months in the hole for all the accrued expenses, i very stoically realized that covid-19 was how my business ends. it is simply not possible to ever get out of the hole with extremely decreased revenue, and spinning my wheels to remain in business is not anything i am willing to do. so it is with so much gratitude that i say thank you rochester for supporting us for 33 years. we loved being your judgement free zone and we loved making you feel beautiful. we will miss you terribly but are comforted by all the great memories and friendships that were created there. that said, i set up another salon, @bluemarbleroc at 333 east ave. a lot of world hair alumni are working there. we would love to see you there. if you have a previously booked appointment within this time frame, your stylist will be reaching out to you personally to rebook at a later date. we feel this is the most responsible action that we can take at this time and hope you understand. we love and appreciate our salon family and only want everyone to be healthy.

Effective Immediately: World Hair will be off grid until April 1st. It was a very hard decision to make, but we find it's the best strategy for everyone to proceed with caution during this epidemic. We want all of our beloved clientele to remain in good health and shelter in place while we wait out. ...
