Safe Haven Museum and Education Center 11.12.2020

In accordance with the recent announcement by the Oswego County Legislature that a state of emergency is in effect, the museum will be closed until at least April 14, 2020, consistent with the closure of the public schools in the county. Updates will be provided as available. Thank you for understanding and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks to Justin Bachman and Spectrum News for spending the morning at the Safe Haven Museum for International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

As Oswego County Today reports, for the first time since its opening in 2002, the Safe Haven Museum and Education Center will have a completely redesigned exhib...it space. Located in Oswego, the museum tells the story of nearly 1,000 refugees who fled the horrors of the Holocaust during WWII, were welcomed into the United States as guests of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and housed at Fort Ontario from 1944 to 1946. I was proud to have secured funding to help make upgrades to the exhibit space possible. Improvements, which are expected to be completed by the end of May, will include a new state-of-the-art video theater, hands-on exhibits and more: https://oswegocountytoday.com/new-year-new-exhibits-for-//

We are grateful for the generous support of a $100,000 grant from State Senator Patty Ritchie that helped to make this project possible. We look forward to premiering the new exhibits later this year.
