Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership President and CEO Shelby Schneider shared four of the plan’s major goals: to enhance the village’s central business district, enrich the village’s quality of place, provide support and resources to small businesses and create an economic development and community branding strategy. Ultimately, this is your plan, based on your vision, Schneider said to attendees at the ceremony, noting that the plan is a product of the Saratoga County-based economic development organization’s Next Wave Communities initiative to create tailored economic development plans for individual municipalities in Saratoga County. Similar efforts are currently underway in the towns of Galway and Malta. The Saratogian
The 72-page plan, created by the Saratoga County Prosperity Partnership's Next Wave program, includes enhancing the central business district with infrastructure upgrades and parking, as well as bolstering the downtown by making it more walkable, planting trees, opening up new housing options and updating zoning. Partnership President and CEO Shelby Schneider also said the plan will provide support and resources for small businesses with co-working spaces, and create a branding strategy to raise the village’s visibility and show off its assets. We are also encouraging targeting vacant and underused properties for economic development, Schneider said. We stand ready to ensure this plan comes to fruition. Albany Times Union
