Today, Rochester is being highlighted in a guide released by Living Cities and Citi Foundation for its work addressing the challenges businesses owned by people... of color faced before and during COVID. The #CityAccelerator invited Rochester, and five other cities, to work collaboratively to explore the ways municipal government can drive local economic opportunity and help entrepreneurs, particularly people of color, to start and grow their businesses. The guide contains valuable ideas for leaders in city government across the nation who see the promise of a stronger economy comprised of more small businesses and more diverse owners. On tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 27. at 1:30 p.m., the Director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Wealth Building, Dr. Lomax Campbell, will join Rodrick Miller, CEO of Invest Puerto Rico and author of the Guide, and representatives from El Paso and Long Beach to discuss principles and takeaways within the Guide. Register for the free webinar at www.governing.com/events. The Cities and Businesses of Color: A Guide to Economic Growth can be downloaded at www.governing.com/cityaccelerator/cohort5.
