A special thank you to the awesome artists who decorated the sidewalks in Highland Park with some words of encouragement during this hard time. We are thankful for the incredible community we live in. As Snow White said, Remember, you’re the one who can fill the world with sunshine! If you have the chance we encourage you to visit and enjoy the sidewalk art left by other visitors but please remember to follow the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing and preventing the spread of illness.

This week we invite you to visit one of our Monroe County Parks that you have not been to before, with 21 parks your options are vast. While exploring a new park or enjoying one you love to frequent, the NYSDEC and Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation encourage you to use their new hashtag - #RecreateLocal that launched this week. Please remember to follow the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing and preventing the spread of illness. Also as a reminder all dogs should be leashed while in a Monroe County Park(no dogs are allowed in Ontario Beach Park) unless inside a designated dog park area.

It is important in these times of social distancing that we remember the importance of our mental health. The CDC has flagged mental health as a top concern during this time of high-stress and anxiety. Our local parks can provide a well needed respite and escape for our residents. With their many trails, open spaces and unique characteristics there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Monroe County Parks remain open to the public, our facilities and buildings remain clo...sed though there are portable restrooms available in each park. If you are visiting one of our Dog Parks please do not enter if there are already 10 people inside, this is for the health and safety of those using the facility. We ask that you continue to follow the CDC guidelines that we outlined yesterday, as well as remember if on a trail and you see others, please alert them of your presence and move to the side to let them pass with space between you. Please also remember to follow the CDC guidance on the recommended size of social gatherings which includes outdoor activities. For parks maps please visit our website: https://www2.monroecounty.gov/parks. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to send us a message or reply to this post. Thank you to the National Recreation and Park Association for this excellent graphic on social distancing in public parks and trails.
