Starting as a private and retiring as a brigadier general, Charles Elwood Yeager (or Chuck as the world knew him) flew a P-51 in WWII and commanded air wings in the Vietnam War. But he is best known for being the first human to break the sound barrier in level flight in a Bell X-1 in 1947. Chuck Yeager died on December 7, 2020 at the age of 97. He is survived by his wife and 4 children. Fly high brave sir. We salute you.

Today is the 79th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. We honor and remember the 2,403 Americans who died that day.
