In January 2020, before the pandemic, Central Square American Legion Post 915 began planning for their centennial celebration for May 2020. As part of that it w...as decided that they would sponsor a logo contest to the high school art students at PV Moore. Legionnaire, Heather Stevens, reached out to the art staff and immediately received an excited yes from Lorelei Lacey, Art Teacher. Mrs. Lacey shared that her class was about to begin using the program Illustrator which would work nicely for developing logos. As COVID began to become more of a threat the timeline for the design began to get crunched. However the students and Mrs. Lacey persevered and submitted some excellent work! We would like to thank the following students who submitted logos Devin B., Joseph E., Alexandra G. , Emily H., Riley H., Finn I., Max M., Aiden O., Joseph R., Makayla S., Neo S., Kendra S., Ian S. and Anna T. Then the pandemic hit....the centennial celebration was rescheduled for July 2021 and the Post was unable to meet. Finally, recently it was possible for the logos to be voted on. It was narrowed down to the logo submitted by Aidan O. and Ian S., with Aidan's design being the top vote getter. Tonight, Commander Ken Robarge congratulated and presented Aidan O. with a check for $250 for his winning logo. Aidan was most appreciative. In addition we would like to thank Lorelei Lacey for the flexibility to extend this opportunity to her students as well as the inspiration and support she provided. The attached shows Aidan's original design and then the modified design which was chosen incorporating the doughboy solider. Post 915 is looking forward to celebrating their Centennial with the community in July 2021! See more
