Joe Payne is a humble, small-town guy from Skipperville, Alabama. When he moved to a bigger city to start his career, he ended up hating his job and wasn't sure what to do next. He saw an ad for 84 Lumber and applied to the Manager Trainee program in 2019. With the help of his area manager and close-knit teams at 84, he was able to move up very quickly, even without previous experience. "I had never even seen a house with a basement before - and now I’m selling materials for... basements!" Joe won the 84 Lumber Rookie of the Year award his first year and is now a growing outside salesman. His long-term goal is to become a sales manager, or even to work at 84 team headquarters.
