Write a post? How bout one last push at year's end for your love and support? http://abcnorio.org/support/support.html

ABC No Rio 07.09.2020

Thank you so much for your ongoing support for ABC No Rio. We know that progress with the new building has seemed slow, but please be assured, we are moving forward. It's been tough and we're glad that you’ve had our back. We hope that we can count on your continued support as we move into 2020. In anticipation of the New Year, one of our regular supporters, a former volunteer, will match the first $2,020 donations that come in. After excavating additional test pits to con...firm existing conditions at one of the adjacent properties, we determined a redesign of our foundation and support of excavation plans was required. We’re also resolving some outstanding access issues with our neighbors. We hope to have more good news on the building for you soon but for now we want to share an update on our regular programming, which stays strong. While we may not have our building quite yet, thanks to the ABC No Rio volunteer collectives, our programs and projects carry on in exile at other spaces. Our screen-printing shop continues every Thursday in Bushwick; the hardcore/punk crew is booking matinees at the People’s Forum in midtown; and our Zine Library, in exile at the Clemente, right around the corner from our Rivington Street site, welcomes scholars, students and zine aficionados. Exhibitions continue in partnership with other organizations and at other venues. We’re wrapping up the year by getting back to the streets and to No Rio’s roots with the exhibition "No New Jails NYC The Art & Design of a Movement," a collaboration with the Museum of Reclaimed Urban Space and the No New Jails campaign to look at the design, art, movement, dance, and cultural work critical to grassroots organizing against the plan to build four new jails in New York City. The exhibition opens Thursday December 5 and runs through January 15 and we hope you’ll visit the show at MoRUS at 155 Avenue C. We trust that you will join our matching donor, and that we can count on your generous tax-deductible contribution to ABC No Rio as the year comes to a close. Your support remains important to us. Please visit our support page to make your donation: http://abcnorio.org/support Thanks in advance and all the best for the new year!

Although we won't fully mobilize on site for another couple months at best, we did begin diggging some additional testpits to confirm existing conditions in order to finalize the design of our Support of Excavation plan.
